The best preparation for colon hydrotherapy is the care you take in your daily life. That said, there are specific steps you can take before your session to help your body be ready and to get the most from the experience.
In the Days Before Your Session
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Proper hydration helps soften material in the colon and makes the session more comfortable and effective.
- Reduce sugar intake. Sugar feeds undesirable organisms in the gut. Cutting back even a few days before your session supports better results.
- Eat simply. Focus on fruits, vegetables, soups, and easily digested foods. Avoid heavy, processed, or fried foods.
- Consider celery juice or apple fiber. Both support gentle digestive movement and can help prepare the colon.
The Day Of
- Eat lightly or not at all in the 2 hours before your session.
- Wait 1 hour after eating before drinking to support digestion.
- Chew your food thoroughly — at least 25 times per bite. This is one of the simplest and most effective digestive habits you can develop.
- Wear comfortable clothing. You’ll be given privacy to change for your session.
Helpful Practices
These aren’t requirements, but they can enhance your experience:
- Castor oil packs — Applied to the abdomen, these can help stimulate circulation and soften the colon before your visit.
- Abdominal massage — Gentle self-massage in a clockwise direction supports natural movement in the colon.
- Squatting position — Using a footstool to elevate your feet while on the toilet places the body in a more natural elimination position. This simple change can improve bowel function significantly.
- Vitamin C — If you’re dealing with constipation, taking 1,000 mg of Vitamin C every 2 hours can help stimulate a bowel movement naturally.
A Note on Candida
Approximately 60% of our clients have underlying fungal imbalance (candida). Common signs include persistent fatigue, brain fog, sugar cravings, bloating, sinus issues, and skin problems. If this sounds familiar, mention it during your consultation — we can assess your situation and discuss whether a targeted approach makes sense for you.
What to Bring
- A list of any questions or health concerns you’d like to discuss
- A list of current medications or supplements, if applicable
- Music or a podcast on your phone if you’d like to listen during your session (we provide a speaker)
